Asharq al-Awsat, a Saudi-funded Arabic-language newspaper in London, reports that sources from within HAMAS have told it that the group “is facing what may be the most difficult circumstances it has ever experienced since its founding in 1987” due to Israel’s near-twenty-month military campaign in response to HAMAS’s 7 October 2023 pogrom that slaughtered 1,200 Israelis and abducted 250, nearly sixty of whom remain as hostages in Gaza.
