I know that Casey discusses Papias for his book but I think there should be a greater focus on him (by academics in general), since he is one of the earliest sources that talks about how the gospels were made & how sources were used during the early christian community. And all this with so little of his work still remaining & all the ambiguties & questions he raises.

Totally agree. Papias is fascinating. If I ever finish it, I'm reviewing Bauckham's book, and that has a decent chunk on Papias.
